I had the opportunity to interview a Radio Man about his experience during World War II! The following interview was done with Kenneth Berdine of The Second Marine Division. He was a high speed Radio Operator who served in Okinawa, Saipan, and parts of Japan.
Use Of Morse Code In WWII
Radio Men. Not the people we listen to in our car, these men used Morse code to communicate. These Radio Men broadcast to each other using telegraphs with Morse Code, which you can learn more about on my other pages. Radio Men were essential to the process of winning WWII for the USA. They were used even at the very beginning of the war. In the Pacific battles, they also used Code Talkers. They were men who used a special code that the Japanese could never decipher or break. Throughout this war, these men were used to send messages to each other during battle. Their efforts greatly helped the USA win in the Pacific, and eventually win the war. Check out the other pages to learn more about code talkers and the Morse code that these men used.
