Morse Code would seem difficult to the average civilian, but this was like a second language to radio men. It was the most essential skill they had and they used it as a tool to defeat the Japanese. This assembly of dots and dashes were one of the biggest weapons we had. While the war was going on, the Japanese could never break the code, which was extremely remarkable.
